Hello all. I will be taking part in this epic event to benefit the ALS Association, in which various musical artists will perform the entire 69 Love Songs album by Magnetic Fields front-to-back on Valentine’s Day.
I thought I made some kind of a statement with my own Toxic and 15 Other Love Songs album, and then along comes this triple-CD affair where writer Stephin Merritt, prolific with a capital “P,” studies, deconstructs, embraces, rejects, marinates upon, shits on, and ultimately revels in the concept of the love song with all of its trappings, shortcomings, and promises, false and sincere.
Unlike most Northside events, this event will start early, likely around 8 pm, due to its Jerry-Lewis-Labor-Day-Telethon scope, i.e., there’s sixty-nine songs to be performed in a row. I will post more details as they emerge.
Any artists who want to get in on this should visit the event website ASAP to reserve a slot as things are getting sewn up for promotion in January. Anybody else should mark their calendars on Friday, February 14, 2014, for a Valentine’s Day date-night to never be forgotten!
