Big fun on Friday night; just now emerging from the after-party! psychodots were smoking, and I got to play my first solo acoustic gig in quite a while. They build character, opening acoustic slots, they really do. Thanks to everyone who listened, supported, and indulged my epic folk song which took up an entire LP side, “Alexander’s On a Monday Night.” Inspired by hearing “Alice’s Restaurant” over Thanksgiving, playing “Tangled Up In Blue” the week before, and just wanting to write something special for the occasion. I sort of 90% knew I was going to play it beforehand, though some lines were totally off-the-cuff, and it was great fun name-checking all the folks who were (and weren’t!) in the room. I may have to use hypnosis to recall and then tag you all on Facebook. Did anyone record it? Anyways, great crowd, great venue, great vibes… power pop in the main room, bluegrass in the lounge, kick-ass Americana upstairs, what wasn’t to like? Thanks James D. Campbell for the sweet pic.
Best, Roger
P.S. Shout-out to the Indy contingent; when’s that gonna happen???
Hey, Rog… I had to work but I sure wish I could’ve been at your show. If any recording of it surfaces, I would LOVE to take a gander at it. 🙂
Our mission is clear.
RK,
I am trying to get something going. Venue holds 250. Operator is interested, but wants to be able to fill the place or come close. I will keep you posted. This is a different world than the one I am accustomed to. I love your stuff and I will shout it from the mountain top! Mark
