Power Pop or Jam Rawk…you decide.
The Roger Klug Power Trio is Roger with Greg Tudor on bass and Mike Tittel on drums. What began as a necessary evil to duplicate the sound of Roger’s solo recordings live morphed into an organic, seismic outfit of musical nuclear fission. “It’s like watching a controlled train wreck” one audience member was recently heard to say.
Roger:
“We keep things spontaneous. It’s Zen meets ADHD….sometimes you descend into great heights.”
“We’re playing pop songs, but we have this jam-band attitude which is very free and liberating. When you’re playing jazz in your mind, you can’t hit a wrong note…”
“We don’t normally do set lists; I find set lists rather common.”
“The three of us laugh at the same things, get off on the same things, are repulsed and bemused by the same things, so when we get together and do something as airy-fairy as playing music, it’s always an insanely good time. What is music anyways? It’s like an alternate language, full of code, symbols, cues, secret messages, and you can release demons and express yourself without being too self-conscious, yeah? I completely subscribe to that Nietzsche quip about how, without music, life would be a mistake.”
